International Youth Leadership Conference in Prague
July 24—29, 2011
On July 26th, the American Center of the Embassy of the USA in Prague hosted a day-long program of the 22nd International Youth Leadership Conference. Over 80 university students from around the world attended. The week long conference is coordinated by Civic Concepts International anually.
The main goal is to bring together students from different cultural and ethnic environments and backgrounds to discuss a range of important issues, including international security, responsible leadership, international law and justice, media and environmental sustainability. In the morning session Mitchell Belfer, Editor–in-Chief of the Central European Journal of International & Security Studies, gave a presentation on Energy Security.
Later in the day, Mr. Belfer participated in a panel discussion on political situation in Arabic countries and issues of contemporary uprisings along with Irena Kalhousova, and Lukas Sedlacek from the European Leadership & Academic Institute. Through active participation, in an open-minded exchange of opinions, students expressed strong determination how to enhance their involvement in building democracy worldwide and how to contribute to a positive change of the world as future leaders.
