World Environment Day at the American Center: Screening on Wildlife Trafficking with Harrison Ford

On the occasion of June 5 World Environment Day, the American Center organized a screening of three television public service announcements to combat wildlife trafficking featuring Harrison Ford. These spots were shown in the Czech Republic for the first time.
Deputy Chief of Mission Mary Thompson-Jones gave the opening remarks, in which she stressed: "Wildlife crime, like all organized crime, is shared global problem. It affects and involves all of us in and out of government, in one form or another. Wildlife trafficking is not just about charismatic animals. It is about economic developlent and the rule of law, public health and safety, biodiversity and sustainability."

Jan Kučera from Ministry of Environment, Czech CITES representative (UN Convention on the International Trade in Endangered Species) delivered brief remarks after the screening. Among the participants were representatives from Czech Environmental Agency, Czech Environmental Inpektorate, ZOO Prague Troja and students from Anglo-German College from Prague 6.
