Webchat with Jonathan Pershing, Deputy Special Envoy for Climate Change

Global Conversations: Climate Change is a multifaceted public-private project being developed in coordination with the Secretary’s Special Envoy for Climate Change. This social-media based initiative provides global dialogue and gain a deeper understanding of the complex issues that shape U.S. climate change policies and efforts. Project’s partners include leading organizations from the foundation community, the entertainment industry and academia.

Please join us at the American Center on Wednesday, April 7th for a webchat (Internet based interactive broadcasting) by Jonathan Pershing, Deputy Special Envoy for Climate Change for the Department of State, who will discuss multilateral and local actions to affect climate change. The webchat will be supported by the US Embassy Environment Specialist Amanda Mansour who will discuss U.S.-EU cooperation on addressing climate change and respond to questions.    

DR. JONATHAN PERSHING was sworn in as Deputy Special Envoy for Climate Change on March 19, 2009. In this capacity, he will report to Special Envoy Todd Stern and serve as the Department’s senior climate negotiator and Head of Delegation at official level meetings of UN climate change conferences. Dr. Pershing brings more than 20 years of domestic and international experience in climate change science, technology, and policy to his new position as a key advisor on United States international climate policy and strategy.
