U.S. Presidential Debate Simulation 2008 at the American Center

When: Tuesday, April 29, 2008
Where: American Center

The American Center will host a simulated debate on U.S. presidential elections on Tuesday, April 29. The project is organized by the Association for International Affairs in cooperation with the Embassy of the United States of America and the American Chamber of Commerce. The main purpose is to offer Czech university students an opportunity to demonstrate their debating skills and political knowledge as well as to provide the broader public with further insight in issues important for the U.S. 2008 presidential campaign through the virtues of public debate.

Participating in the presidential debate simulation, four selected students will play the part of  the contenders to the office of the President of the United States of America (two representing each party). Participants will be expected to behave and argue within the reasonable limits characteristic for “their” party; however, they are not supposed to imagine themselves in the particular roles of real contenders. In its consequences, knowledge of the U.S. politics, force of arguments, debating skills and power of expression will be the decisive factors in the simulation.

Please submit applications to presidential.simulation@amo.cz by April 10, 2008

Further information can be found here.

When: Tuesday, April 29, 2008, 14:00
Where: American Center, Tržiště 13, Prague 1, 1st floor (approx. 50 m below U.S. Embassy)
