Thematic Discussion at the American Center: Afghanistan, Seven Years After

When: Tuesday, September 9, 3 p.m.
Where: American Center 

The American Center, CESES (Center for Security Policy, Center for Social and Economic Strategies, Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University in Prague) and the UN Information Center in Prague are pleased to invite you to a thematic discussion, ”Afghanistan, Seven Years Later”. The discussion starts at 3.00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 2008 at the American Center, Trziste 13, Praha 1.

Panelists are going to discuss the main political, economical and security developments after 2001; political, economical and security stabilization in context of the Central-Asian region’s situation; the current state and future perspectives of the International Security Assistance Force engagement; and the outcomes and future prospects of the Czech Republic’s engagement in Afghanistan.  Panelists are: Amy Carnie, US Embassy in Prague; Slavomir Horák, Charles University; Petr Chalupecký,  Ministry of Foreign Affairs CR; Marek Štys, People in Need; František Šulc, Lidové Noviny; and Marek Kocvrlich, Ministry of Defense CR. Miloš Balabán of CESES will moderate the event. Simultaneous interpretation provided.
