The Fight Against Drugs in North America:  A Case for Cross-Border Cooperation

Panel discussion

When: Monday, October 5, at 6:00 PM
Where: American Center, Tržiště 13, Prague 1 – Malá Strana, 1st floor

Mexico is one of the most significant transit countries for drug production in North America. Data shows that 90% of cocaine flows into the US through the Mexican border. On the other hand, 90% of the weapons used by Mexican drug cartels originate from the United States. The recent escalation of violence in the region has led both administrations to look for new solutions in cross-border cooperation.

The panelists below will discuss consequences, side effects and possible political solutions in the fight against drugs:

  • Robert Stutman, Former Special Agent, Drug Enforcement  Administration (DEA), via video link from the USA
  • Johannes Van Den Hoogen, Assistant Legal Attaché for the FBI, US Embassy in Prague
  • Mark Kirby, Supervisory Special Agent, US Embassy in Prague
  • Krystof Kozak, Assistant Professor at the Department of American Studies, Charles University

The discussion will be moderated by Jiří Skoupý, analyst, Association for International Affairs.

The panel discussion will be held in English
