Presidential elections of great interest to Czech students

November 4 2008

As presidential elections in the United States prompted interest among high school and university students, American diplomats held discussions at numerous schools. The presidential election season culminated on November 4th, when U.S. voters elected the 44th president of the United States. High school students from throughout the Czech republic visited the American Center in  Mala Strana. Among them were also students from a high school inTrebic. High school students in Decin invited American diplomats to the city theater to receive firsthand information about the historic election. The exceptionally high turnout and the election of the first African-American president initiated a series of questions and answers. Though the presidential election has concluded, the American Center still features lots of information about the election process, the history of previous presidents and a video of President-elect Barack Obama’s life.

Students and teachers can always come to the American Center for a discussion, invite an American diplomat to their class or come take advantage of our extensive collection of materials.
