Czech-American Award for talented students to Jan Petrov from Law Faculty of Charles University
Prague/Brno, May 15
U.S. Ambassador Richard W. Graber announced today in the InfoUSA Center located in the Moravian Library in Brno the winner of the annual Czech-American Award for Talented Students. The prize was awarded to Faculty of Law student of the Charles University in Prague Jan Petrov for his work entitled "Managing board general responsibilities in a stock company: in Czech-American-German comparison."
This academic competition was open to all Czech undergraduate, graduate and PhD students who are currently enrolled in a university program and who are writing a thesis on a topic related to the U.S. This year, the emphasis was on sociology, law and economics.
The winner was awarded CZK 10,000 and his thesis will be published. The selection committee included representatives from the U.S. Embassy, International Institute of Political Science of Masaryk University, Fulbright Commission CR, and additional scholars. The committee member Marek Svoboda from American Center of the U.S. Embassy in Prague explained: "Jan Petrov's work is an extraordinarily informative and well presented international comparison hitherto missing in the Czech professional literature."
Director of the International Institute of Political Science of Masaryk University Bretislav Dancak and Director of the Fulbright Commission in the CR Hana Ripkova participated in the official ceremony.
