Czech-American Award for Talented Students
Prague, May 10
U.S. Ambassador Richard W. Graber will announce the winner of the annual Czech-American Award for Talented Students. The results will be presented on Tuesday, May 15 at 1 p.m. in the InfoUSA Center located in the Moravian Library (Kounicova 65a, Brno). Director of the International Institute of Political Science of Masaryk University Bretislav Dancak and Director of the Fulbright Commission in the CR Hana Ripkova will participate in the official ceremony.
This academic competition was open to all Czech undergraduate, graduate and PhD students who are currently enrolled in a university program and who are writing a thesis on a topic related to the U.S. This year, the emphasis was on sociology, law and economics. The winner will be awarded CZK 10,000 and his thesis will be published. The selection committee included representatives from the U.S. Embassy, International Institute of Political Science of Masaryk University, Fulbright Commission CR, and additional scholars.
Last year’s winner is Tomas Ehler, student at the Faculty of Arts at Charles University with a work entitled "The United States and Germany's Reunification in the Years 1989 – 1990" examining events in European history in an original way.
