American Center Photo Competition: "The American Flag Through Your Eyes"

What’s the contest theme? The American Center in Prague announces a photo competition for students and young tourists who will travel to the United States in  summer 2008 or who have recently visited the U.S.A. The theme of the competition is the American flag in various places, in different situations and of different shapes. The American flag is omnipresent in everyday life in the United States; you cannot miss the symbol of the stars and the stripes, a popular photographic theme. 

What’s the deadline?  To participate in the competition, please send your most interesting individual photos or series of pictures (maximum 5) by September 30, 2008 to acprague@state.gov. We will continuously display selected photos on our website http://prague.usembassy.gov

What’s the prize? The winners of both competitions – best individual photo and best series (max. 5) – will receive a personal guided tour of the most symbolic place of the U.S. Embassy, the Glorietta, which is located at the top of the garden above the American Embassy and features the most famous American flag in the Czech Republic. The awards will also include publications on the United States and photographs of the American flag by Jiří Turek who exhibited them in New York and Prague.

A selection of the best pictures will remain on display in the representational rooms of the American Center, Tržiště 13, Prague 1 until the end of 2008.  For more details about the conditions and rules of the competition click here.
