August 31, 2009
The U.S. delegation of 17 athletes won three medals—a silver and two bronzes—at the 7th Paralympic Archery World Championships in Nymburk. Over 190 archers and 110 staff members from 35 countries participated in the World Championships, held August 14-23 at the Sport Center Nymburk. The organizer was the Sports Club Nové Město nad Metují, a traditional organizer of major events both for handicapped and non-handicapped athletes.
The championships were supported by the U.S. Embassy in Prague. Cultural Attaché David Gainer presented medals to the winners.
This year was also the first time the World Championships were held under the patronage of FITA – the International Archery Federation.
