U.S. Embassy Garden Open House for American Citizens
June 29, 2009
The Embassy opened its doors to Americans living in the Czech Republic on June 22, 2009 for the second annual American Citizens Open House. Embassy sections hosted informational tables in the Embassy garden alongside representatives from the Federal Benefits Units in Frankfurt and Warsaw, the Schengen Unit of the Czech Ministry of Interior, the Foreigner’s Police, and the heads of a number of expat organizations that assist Americans overseas.
The Chargé d’Affaires, Mary Thompson-Jones, greeted her compatriots and expressed the Embassy's desire to support them, emphasizing that "American embassies around the world exist first and foremost to assist American citizens traveling and residing abroad." Visitors to the Embassy were invited to enjoy the view of Prague from the Glorietta and partake of ice cream and other treats.
