Obering’s Visit to Prague

CTK (10/31) and Pravo (11/01, p. 2): General Obering promised on Friday in Prague that the U.S. will provide about USD 600,000 to fund the first three Czech scientific projects tied to the U.S.-Czech Framework Agreement . Obering said the first research and scientific project, to which USD 80,000 will be devoted, is the Crytur Company’s X-ray and 3D project based in Turnov, east Bohemia. The general said he expected approval of approximately USD 250,000 for the Czech Technical University’s (CVUT) stereoscopic project next week. The third project the Americans want to support with roughly the same sum is the Czech Academy of Science Physics Institute’s research connected with radar technologies from. “These are the first examples. It is a great opportunity for Czech science and industry,” Defense Minister Vlasta Parkanova said.
