National Students Conference on Deliberating in a Democracy Project/DID

On 11th May, the American Center of the Embassy of the USA in Prague hosted The National Students’ Conference on Deliberating in a Democracy/ DID.  The conference was the highlight of the involvement of Czech secondary school students in 2008/2009 projects which are coordinated by NGO Partners Czech. 

American Embassy Cultural Attaché David Gainer welcomed about 40 students from the whole country. The conference agenda surveyed one of this year key issues – death penalty. 

In the morning students conducted a poll of public opinion in The Old Town Square and its vicinity. In the afternoon they presented and interpreted poll results. Eva Dobrovolná, Spokesperson, Amnesty International, gave a brief explanation of world countries approach to death penalty and its misuse. Then a discussion with students followed.
