Prague, January 14, 2008

Director of U.S. Missile Defense Agency General Henry Obering and other senior officials of the Agency will be in Prague January 16 and 17. The main objective of this visit is to participate in the Ballistic Missile Defense Industry, Research and Business Seminar organized by the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the U.S. Missile Defense Agency.

The BMD Seminar is the first of a series of events designed to facilitate mutually advantageous cooperation between U.S. and Czech companies that could have a role to play in building future missile defense systems.  In addition, General Obering will meet with Prime Minister Mirek Topolanek, Foreign Minister Karel Schwarzenberg, Defense Minister Vlasta Parkanová, and Czech lawmakers to consult on issues of bilateral and multilateral security and defense.  General Obering will also attend a meeting with the Czech National Security Council.
