Speaking at the closing of the Ballistic Missile Defense Industry, Research and Business Seminar January 17, Ambassador Richard Graber said, "As we stand at the beginning of what I believe will be a new course in our comprehensive security relationship, let us remember: Our intrinsic values made us well-suited as partners. We are democratic societies that prize individual freedoms and possess dynamic entrepreneurs who increasingly speak the same language of innovation, growth, and who have already shown their willingness to work together to face the security challenges of the 21st century."

The success of the seminar led General Obering to announce that the Missile Defense Agency would fund a detailed study by a consortium of Czech scientific institutions to examine areas of greater potential U.S. investment and cooperation. The seminar introduced over 40 Czech businesses and 10 major U.S. defense industry representatives, as a first step towards long-term collaboration that would be supported by U.S.-Czech missile defense agreements.
