May 29, 2008

The American Center hosted a second social evening connected with the current exhibition "Kwajalein – Life with the Radar." More than 50 visitors attended, many of whom were visiting the American Center for the first time. American Center Director Miroslav Konvalina expressed the hope that some of them will be interested  in the Friends of the American Center project, planned for fall. The project is designed for Czech citizens who want to participate in the regular American Center programs.

During the evening, visitors enjoyed Hawaiian melodies performed by duo Marek Svoboda (on the ukulele) and David Babka (pedal steel guitar), as well as a tasting of the famous Hawaiian Kona Coffee. The surprise of the evening was the performance of the editor in chief of the social magazine Xantypa, Magdalena Dietlova. She was interested in learning more about future projects and she appreciated the great atmosphere of the American Center where she "felt among good friends," as she put it.
