Liberation Day Convoy Salutes the U.S. Embassy

May 5, 2008

The U.S. Embassy in Prague welcomed a convoy of U.S. Army World War II vehicles on Friday, May 2. Czech, American and Belgian veterans gather each year at the beginning of May to commemorate the liberation of Czechoslovakia by General Patton’s army 63 years ago. They began the convoy at the U.S. Embassy as a way of thanking America. The vehicles then travel throughout Bohemia, visiting towns that have their own liberation ceremonies.

A Czech band played music from the period as Ambassador Graber and Embassy employees warmly greeted the veterans.
