Ambassador Visits Roma Concentration Camp in Lety

On May 13 Ambassador Eisen attended the annual memorial to the Roma victims who suffered and died at the Lety Concentration Camp.  The Ambassador stated that we must never forget the horrible lessons of Lety and the Roma’s share of the appalling saga of the Holocaust.  People of all races and religions have a place in a free society.  It is important that future generations of Czechs learn the lessons of all the Czechs who were victimized during this tragic episode in Czech history.

The Ambassador concluded by with the hope that Lety can one day be made whole again without the other structures that still tarnish the grounds.
