The American Center cordially invites you to a lecture by Victor Greene "Refuge or Refusal: A History of American Immigration Policy" on Tuesday, May 13. The presentation will focus on historical continuity of features of American Immigration Policy and will be followed by a discussion.
Victor Greene is Emeritus Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He received his PhD. in history from the University of Pennsylvania in 1963. Professor Greene‘s active teaching career stretched from 1963 to 2002. He has taught in both Europe and Asia and is the author of numerous articles and five major books on American immigration and popular culture. His present work deals with the Depiction of Immigrants and Ethnic Groups by American Genre Artists, 1850-1930.
The talk will be moderated by Stepanka Korytova-Magstadt who specializes in U.S. immigration history and teaches at Charles University and focuses on the Czechs and Slovaks living in the United States and their ties to their homeland.
