Inaugural American Center Ladies' Club Event
June 29, 2009
On June 25 we welcomed the founding members of the American Center's Ladies' Club to their first event. The club is dedicated to extraordinary Czech and American women and will meet every two months at the AC in a friendly, informal atmosphere. We formed the group, which unites women from different spheres of Czech society, in response to numerous requests from women who stated at AC events or separately that they wished to have more interaction with the American Embassy and the American Center.
On this occasion conservator Jana Dřevíkovská of the Czech National Library discussed her time as an intern at the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, D.C. where she specialized in paper, bookbinding and document preservation. Her presentation was entitled, “Contemporary Conservatory Trends in the US.”
In the fall we propose to begin regular programs to which we will invite more people. Each gathering will feature a guest speaker with US experience.
