"Kwajalein – Life with the Radar" Exhibition Opens May 19

Prague, May 16, 2008

The American Center of the U.S. Embassy in Prague will open an exhibition of documentary photos “Kwajalein – Life with the Radar” by three Czech journalists – Miroslav Konvalina (former Czech Radio senior correspondent), Martina Rusek (TV Nova correspondent), and Miroslav Faith (TV Nova cameraman).  They are among the few Czech media who have personally traveled to the far Pacific atoll Kwajalein, where the missile defense radar proposed for the Czech Republic has operated for nearly ten years. Kwajalein is part of the environmentally sensitive Marshall Islands in Micronesia. These journalists documented their trip with many photographs, to be displayed together for the first time at the American Center. Crafts made by the Marshall Islanders are also on display.

The exhibition “Kwajalein – Life with the Radar” opens Monday, May 19, at 5:00 pm at the American Center in Prague (Trziste street 13, Prague 1 – Mala Strana).

The exhibition will remain opened to the public every Friday from 1:00 - 4:00 pm until August 29, 2008, or upon appointment (tel.: 257-022-336, email: acprague@state.gov).
