We had a chance to step into the world of American jazz music and dance witch Katherine Kramer well known choreograph, teacher and tap dancer from Miami. Katherine guided the audience at the American Center into the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s when American tap dance supported by jazz become to rule the world of music.
Accompanied by Jaroslav Kantor, Czech jazz guitar player Katherine show to the public how to communicate through the tap dance and personally tried visitor’s attention after the lecture in small “tap dance course”.
Just one day earlier Katherine Kramer made a workshop in Brno for young students of dance at Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts and later she performed and spoke about connection between jazz and tap in the USA at Moravian Library Brno.
Katherine Kramer is the American choreographer and movement coach famous for programs with tap dancers. She worked with many musicians, choreographers and dancers. In March she is working on a project “Katherine Kramer in Prague”, organized by Music Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts, as a Fulbright senior specialist.
