Intellectual Property Rights Discussed at the American Center

On May 3rd, the American Center organized a discussion on the protection of the Intellectual Property Rights for World Intellectual Property Day, which was held on April 26th, 2012. The panel discussion was organized under the auspices of the Czech IVLP Alumni Club and was moderated by Ivana Šabatová, one of the Club´s members.
Petr Kadlec of Wikimedia Commons, journalist and film critic Ondřej Štindl of Lidové noviny, Ivan Bartoš of T-Mobile and the Czech Pirate Party, Markéta Prchalová, the director of Czech Anti-pirate Union, and Michal Feix of Seznam.cz contributed their views on the issue to the debate on IPRs. The goal of this discussion was to create a space for an exchange of views and opinions while at the same time finding areas of agreement and potential compromise.
The panelists explained a broad range of approaches towards IPR protection as well as highlighted the importance of free access to information. The audience, coming mostly for expert community of IT and publishing, made an important contribution to the discussion.
