U.S. Embassy Supports New Edition of Prague’s Green Map
August 4, 2012
The Auto*Mat Initiative presented on August 2 a second edition of the Green Map of Prague. It contains list of non-smoking restaurants, bio-markets, alternative venues, community centers, bike paths through the city center, playgrounds, places with wheelchair access, etc. The list has grown to 586 locations. The project was also subsidized by the U.S. Embassy in Prague.
Cultural Attaché Sherry Keneson-Hall, who launched the map, noted: “The project of Green Maps was created in 1992 in New York. The main aim of the Green Apple Map was to help tourists, immigrants, and citizens to find and use natural environmental locations, quiet secluded places, and cultural sites. I hope that here in Prague, the map will be one of the impulses of sustainable development.”
Today, the Green Map network has impacted more than 800 cities in 65 countries.
