American Writer George Blecher Talked with Czech Readers

George Blecher at the American Center

Writer, journalist, translator, and actor who lives by turns in New York and the Danish village of Prasto, George Blecher is a former professor of literature at the City University of New York. Today he is a full-time writer who lives mainly off of his journalism. Last year, his collection of short stories Jsou i jiní lidé (Other People Exist) was published in Czech by HOST Brno. The publication has sold copies in Danish, and American. In addition, French and Turkish editions are in being prepared.

George Blecher was a guest at the Book World Prague 2010. On July 28, he gave a performance at the American Center, telling stories about famous writers whom he may or may not have met, including an encounter with the Czech writer Bohumil Hrabal.
