Non-Immigrant Visas

General Information

Nonimmigrant visas are for international travelers coming to the U.S. temporarily. This visa allows you to travel to a U.S. airport or land border and request permission of an immigration inspector to enter the U.S. A visa does not guarantee entry into the United States.

International travelers come to the U.S. for a wide variety of reasons, including tourism, business, study, and certain types of temporary work.  The type of visa needed is defined by immigration law, and relates to the purpose of your travel.  A complete list of non-immigrant visa types is available on the State Department travel Web page.

Visa interviews are by appointment only.  Please go to the NIV Appointment System page to see the available appointment times, to schedule your appointment, and to prepare your application on-line.

Please note that same day printing of non-immigrant visas is not possible and that it will take anywhere from 2-4 days after your interview for you to receive your visa via the All-Ride Courier service. Please schedule your travel arrangements accordingly.
