Barbara Benish
Artist
Artist Barbara Benish moved to the Czech Republic in 1993, after completing a year as a Fulbright scholar in Prague, where she lectured at V.S.U.P., the Academy of Applied Art and Design www.bbenish.net. She has shown her work in well over 100 exhibitions in Europe and the U.S., and is represented in collections around the world including the Getty Museum in Los Angeles, The Pomona College Museum of Art in California, and the Stadtgeschichtliche Museen in Nurnberg, Germany.
In 2005 Benish founded ArtMill, a school focusing on creativity and sustainable living in the po-šumava region of southern Bohemia. There, with her husband, architect Petr Kalný and two children, Benish has her studio, a gallery, and the mill, where international students of all ages, come to study art, languages, and sustainable living.
