FrAMchise Day included a U.S. Embassy-sponsored events at the U.S. Ambassador’s residence, Prague Business Club and the American Center. The Embassy’s Deputy Chief of Mission Joseph Pennington said on the occasion of the introduction of new U.S. brands in the Czech Republic: The word franchising actually comes from the French word for ‘freedom’. I think this is a fitting definition – freedom for small business owners. It combines your energy and your determination as a small business owner with a proven business model and a well-known brand name in order to create a business that is yours. It allows you, the entrepreneur, to manage your own firm, build your own capital and hire your own staff. Between 60% and 80% of all new jobs created in the U.S. come from small businesses.”
