Deputy Chief of Mission of the U.S. Embassy Prague Joseph Pennington presented on October 17 certificates to eight schools which had been awarded the Fair School Certificate by the human rights NGO the League of Human Rights. In the Fair School Project the League of Human Rights evaluates the level of inclusion at a given school, that is the conditions for challenged children in regular classes – be it children from ethnic minorities, immigrant children, physically or mentally challenged children as well as exceptionally talented kids.

Joseph Pennington stated during the ceremony: "I must express my great respect for all of the schools, teachers, and children who have taken that extra step and warmly welcomed pupils and fellow students—who would otherwise have been educated at home or in so-called ‘practical’ and other special schools—into your classrooms and school communities. Let us hope your efforts will inspire others to do the same."

The ceremony was held at one of the awarded schools, the Lyčkovo náměstí Primary School in Prague’s Karlín.
