Dicover Hawaii

Discover Hawaii at the American Center

When: Tuesday, August 5, 2008
Where: American Center (Garden)

The American Center’s summer season special attraction will be an evening of pleasant Hawaiian surprises. This thematic event, appropriately „Discover Hawaii“, is the first in a series about America´s 50 states. Not only is Hawaii unique for being the newest and only island state, it is America’s most sought-after vacation destination.

In addition, we are lucky to count on the presence of one of the best known Czech-Americans living in the Hawaiian capital of Honolulu, Václav Pěnkava, who is currently back in the Czech Republic and will be our master of ceremonies for the evening.  He will be joined by Margita Fuchsová, who until recently was Czech Consul General in Los Angeles. Thanks to her, ties between the Czech Republic and Hawaii intensified and she brought to Hawaii many Czech personalities.

One of them is musician Pavel Váně, who will also be with us. He has performed on several Hawaiian islands improvising with Hawaiian players on the ukulele. We will get a feel for that instrument on Hawaiian music. Come and join us at the American Center on August 5 at 7 p.m. The multimedia evening will include a photo show and a TV video program.

When: Tuesday, August 5, 2008, 7 p.m.
Where: American Center, Tržiště 13, Prague 1 - Garden of the Wratislav Palace (approx. 50 m below U.S. Embassy)
