Czech Personalities Presented Chicago

June 26, 2009

Mutual interest in Chicago attracted important Czech personalities to the American Center on June 22 for the next part of a series of programs discovering the most interesting places in the US. Famous Czech mime Boris Hybner talked about his personal theater experience from  the so called „windy city” Chicago, where he performed. The Czech consul general in Chicago Marek Skolil greeted the audience via a video recording. Singers an acrtesses from East Bohemian Theather came to introduce their version of the musical Chicago.

Art historian Otto Urban and historian Frantisek Hanzlik were other speakers in this multimedia program which was also devoted to Chicago's Olympic aspirations. The program highlighted Chicago's bid for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games. The members of the Czech Olympic Committee led by Sports Director Jan Hrdina were presented as well as Czech hockey legend Milan Nový. Students from Kladno learned that the most famous Chicago mayor Antonín Čermák was born in their city.
