Mi-17 in Kabul

Helicopters will enable the Afghan National Army Air Corps to perform a wide range of mission types

February 19, 2009

The Afghan National Army took delivery of the last three of 12 Czech-donated helicopters in Kabul in February 2009. The helicopters fill a significant Afghan military need as it progresses toward providing first-line security to Afghanistan.

“The delivery of the final helicopters marks a significant milestone in the Czech military’s commitment to Afghanistan and NATO operations in Afghanistan, which I applaud”, said General John Craddock, Supreme Allied Commander Europe.

The Czech donation has included six Mi-17 transport and six Mi-24 attack helicopters. The equipment enables the Afghan National Army Air Corps to perform a wide range of missions, from close-air support to medical evacuation.
