Czech and U.S. Fulbright Teachers Exchange Experience on Language Teaching

June 30, 2008

Close to fifty teachers from all over the country, school inspectors and Ministry of Education officials gathered at the American Center on June 26 for a seminar co-organized by the Embassy, the Fulbright Commission and AISIS on new methods and creative approaches to language teaching.  The panel was composed of  American and Czech participants of the Fulbright Teacher Exchange program.

Speakers made presentations and lead short practical workshops on writing poetry, implementing literary circles, and using literary formats in teaching grammar, vocabulary, and style.  The event sparked a lively discussion on broader issues of different approaches to students in Czech and U.S. schools.  This seminar was the fourth event of a programming format which has proved productive and useful for teachers and officials alike.  The program will continue during next academic year.
