Congress Delegation Headed By Ellen Tauscher Visits Czech Republic

Prague, December 16, 2008 - On December 17 and 18 a bipartisan U.S. Congressional delegation headed by Representative Ellen Tauscher will make a working visit to the Czech Republic to meet with Czech political leaders.  They are expected to discuss security issues, including missile defense, U.S.-Czech strategic security relationship and NATO mission in Afghanistan.

The delegation will meet with Deputy Prime Minister Alexandr Vondra, Foreign Minister Karel Schwarzenberg, Defense Minister Vlasta Parkanova and representatives of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies.

Ellen Tauscher, a Democrat from California, is only the third woman in U.S. history to chair an Armed Services Subcommittee.  She will be joined on this trip by Representatives Loretta Sanchez, Rick Larsen and Doug Lamborn.

The delegation will arrive in the Czech Republic from Poland. The third country on their schedule was Russia.
