American astronaut Andrew Feustel has accepted the invitation of the Czech Academy of Science to visit the Czech Republic and will pay the NASA official visit to the Czech Republic starting on July 29, 2011. He will be joined by his wife Indira who has Czech origin from her mother.

While visiting, Dr. Feustel will meet Zdeněk Miler, the author of the famous Czech cartoon character Krtek (Little Mole), whom the astronaut took with him onboard the space shuttle Endeavour. The Czech animator, who launched Krtek on a rocket in 1965 in one of his books, "never imagined anything like this for Krtek". Forty five years after the publishing of Krtek and the Rocket, the little mole was chosen by Dr. Feustel as representative of the study of astronomy among children.

During the two-week visit, the Feustels will discuss the Endeavour's last mission STS-134 with the Czech public in several towns. We will publish the details of the visit on this page and also on the Embassy’s Facebook page.
