"American Reflections of the Prague Spring": A Lecture by Historian Edward Luttwak

The American Center (Tržiště 13, Praha 1) is happy to invite you on August 20th at 5 p.m. to a lecture by prominent U.S. military historian Edward Luttwak, organized on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Soviet occupation of Czechoslovakia. Mr. Luttwak will discuss the positions and perceptions of the situation in the United States, both at the time of the occupation and in retrospect.
Mr. Luttwak is a CSIS senior associate and has served as a consultant to the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the National Security Council, the U.S. Department of State, the U.S. Army, Navy, and Air Force, and a number of allied governments as well as international corporations. He is a frequent lecturer at universities and military colleges in the United States and around the world and has testified before several congressional committees and presidential commissions.
The lecture will also open an American Center exhibition of photographs of the invasion by Czech-American journalist Dušan Neumann. It is the first time Mr. Neumann’s photos have been shown in the Czech Republic.
The lecture will be held in English (Czech translation provided).
