American Days at Summer School of Journalism
The Summer School of Journalism in Havlickuv Brod, in cooperation with the U.S. Embassy’s American Center, has prepared a special program : “American Days,” which will include lectures, a documentary screening and an exhibition. All events are scheduled for August 19th and 20th.
The chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Prague, Mary Thompson-Jones, will speak about the practice of public diplomacy in the U.S. diplomatic service. Dr. Edmund B. Lambeth, a professor of journalism at University of Missouri, will focus on the challenges currently facing American journalism.
Aaron Matthews’ documentary “The Paper,” which offers a glimpse of life in a typical American newsroom, will have its first screening in the Czech Republic. The Paper is by turns inspiring and astonishing as it explores how a generation of young journalists wrestles with today’s media issues.
Admission American Days events at the Summer School of Journalism in Havlickuv Brod is free.
