American Center’s Speakers Bureau Attracts Students Even from Neighboring Countries: German High Schoolers Discuss U.S. Presidential Elections
April 3, 2008
On Wednesday, April 2, students from the a German high school in Saxony visited the American Center as part of the Embassy’s Speakers Bureau Program. Public Affairs Officer Michael Hahn introduced the work of different sections of the Embassy and briefed the students about the U.S. diplomatic service. We normally brief only Czech schools and civic organizations but are thrilled that our fame has spread to neighboring countries. The program was mainly focused on the relations between U.S. and Czech Republic, U.S. Presidential Elections, U.S. foreign policy and the central European component of the U.S. missile defense system.
The students had questions on a variety of issues from the Czech inclusion in the U.S. Visa Waiver Program to the possible sitting of a missile defense radar in the Czech Republic; students also had a chance to ask questions about all aspects of life in the States.
