American Center Hosts NATO Summit Discussion

Ambassador Graber opened a panel discussion about the outcome of the 2008 NATO summit in Bucharest. The event was coorganized by the Center for Social and Economic Strategies, a defense oriented Czech think-tank, and Embassy of Romania on April 11. Other panelists included H.E. Dan Balanescu (Romanian Chargé d´ Affairs), Štefan Füle (Permanent Representative of the ČR to NATO), Martin Barták (First Deputy Minister of Defense), Antonín Seďa (Member of the Permanent delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly) and Jiří Roškot (journalist, Právo).
The discussion focused mainly on current issues on the NATO agenda, such as the need for reorganization and the situation in Afghanistan as well as on specifically Czech fields of interest such as missile defense and the upcoming Czech presidency of the EU.
