February 12, 2008
Ambassador Richard Graber visited two central Bohemian towns, Dobris and Pribram, on Monday, February 11. In Dobris he met with Mayor Jaroslav Melsa and several councilmen in the town hall. The main topics of discussion were missile defense and the upcoming U.S. presidential elections. It was the first time the Ambassador had visited Dobris and he answered questions regarding his service in the Czech Republic and his impressions of the country. In addition, Mayor Melsa briefed the Ambassador about the planned reconstruction of the main square in Dobris.
Then Ambassador continued on to Pribram, where he met with Mayor Josef Rihak and six mayors from small towns around Pribram. At the town hall, they discussed the status of missile defense negotiations, summarized recent missile defense-related visits of U.S. officials and outlined related events that will occur in the near future. The Ambassador was asked about U.S. investments linked to the radar, its supply and health and environmental issues.
