June 19, 2008
Ambassador Graber took part in the official grand opening ceremony of IBM's Integrated Delivery Center Brno on Tuesday, June 10. Ambassador Graber and Commercial Counselor Greg O’Connor met with IBM Czech Republic General Manager Ales Bartunek, who spoke briefly about company plans.
The Center employs over 2,400 IT professionals of 70 nationalities. Over the past two years, the Integrated Delivery Center has played a key role in IBM’s worldwide network, providing an extensive range of comprehensive strategic outsourcing and remote IT management services, such as server installation, monitoring and maintenance, and end-to-end user support. Drawing on global skills and talent, the center also provides help desk management and support in 18 languages including English, Spanish, French, German, Czech, Hungarian, Polish and Russian. The Center serves more than 600 clients worldwide, including well-known banks, large companies, and communication operators.
IBM has recently decided to open a regional headquarters in Prague due to its growing markets in Europe. The main global headquarters will be based in Dubai with other regional headquarters in Johannesburg and Moscow. This initiative is part of IBM's implementation of a three-year $1.6 billion investment in growth markets to better align resources to meet client needs.
