James G. Stavridis, a United States Navy admiral who serves as the current Commander, U.S. European Command (USEUCOM) and NATO's Supreme Allied Commander, Europe (SACEUR), visited Prague on April 20-21 to meet with his counterparts and discuss how establishing partnerships is important throughout the region.  He had a speech on “Europe and 21st century Security” at the Foreign Ministry.

He thanked Czechs after his meeting with Defense Minister Alexandr Vondra and Chief of Czech General Staff Vlastimil Picek for the work they have done in Afghanistan and Kosovo. “There is no closer friend and ally to the U.S. than the Czech Republic.  We do hundreds of military to military events between the U.S. and the Czech Republic and that relationship is very strong and continues to be so,” said Admiral Stavridis.
