Services for U.S. Citizens
U.S. Passports
The Embassy uses an online appointment system for all non-emergency services. To apply for a passport please make an appointment online.
Please remember that all persons, including infants, must have their own passports. Additionally, passports for children under the age of 16 are valid for five years, while passports issued for individuals age 16 and older are valid for 10 years. Both parents must appear in person to apply for a passport of a child 15 years of age.
All fees can be paid in U.S. dollars, Czech korunas or by credit card.
Please review the Department of State’s website for further information on passports, particularly if you are applying for a passport for the first time. All passport applications are available at the Embassy or online at Applications and Forms.
Processing Time
Passports are transferred to the U.S. for issuance. When the passport is returned to the Embassy, generally within ten business days, you can return to the Embassy to pick it up. If you prefer, you can receive your passport by courier. For more information on the courier service, click here. With this option, you will also need to fill out a self-addressed envelope for the courier service.
