Charity Jazz Concert for New Orleans

On September 28, the Embassy co-sponsored a performance of a Czech-American jazz band at a benefit concert “Jazz for New Orleans” that took place at the Wenceslas square in Prague and lasted for over five hours.  The band included three American musicians from New Orleans:  guitarist Brian Seeger, bass player Cassandra Faulconer and singer and piano player John Gros, as well as a Czech drummer Frantisek Hönig. 

During the following days, the New Orleans musicians continued their program in various Prague jazz clubs.   They also met with Ambassador Cabaniss to share experiences from their stay in Prague.  The proceedings from the benefit concert will go to a music school in New Orleans destroyed by the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
