Press conference with the Chief U.S. Missile Defense Negotiator John C. Rood and the Czech Deputy Foreign Minister Tomas Pojar, September 5

U.S. Assistant Secretary of State John C. Rood led a 15-member negotiating team to Prague September 5 for the second round of negotiations related to formal U.S.-Czech missile defense cooperation. Both he and Czech Deputy Foreign Minister Tomas Pojar broke from the talks to meet with reporters. Rood characterized the talks as “intensive, detailed, and frank.  “I am very optimistic, based on the goodwill being demonstrated and the progress that we have made, that we are on the path to successfully concluding an agreement,” he told reporters. Further talks are expected.
