Tree Planting in Přísnotice

The U.S. Embassy was honored to join the mayor of Přísnotice, JUDr. Jarmila Pavelkova; students of all ages; and representatives of the Czech Environmental Partnership Foundation in planting 124 Linden trees on November 3, along the road connecting the towns of Vranovice and Přísnotice in southern Moravia.  The trees will grow to benefit not only the local residents, but also cyclists devoted to following the Greenways route developing from Krakow through Moravia to Vienna.  The U.S. Embassy has worked closely with the Environmental Partnership Foundation since it was established in 2001.  Today EPF works with many local partners like the Prague International Marathon (these trees were purchased from the individual donations of marathon runners), as well as environmental organizations in Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania and Slovakia.  More information about the Environmental Partnership Foundation and the Greenways project can be found on the organization´s website.
