Panel Discussion: "Islam and the West: Opportunities and Challenges"

The American Information Center would like to invite you to panel discussions with Imam Mohamad Bashar Arafat, Director of Islamic Affairs Council in Maryland. The events will take place in Prague and Brno, April 25 and 26 and are open to everybody with professional or scholarly interest in the topic.

The event will be held in Czech and English, simultaneous translation will be provided.

Imam Mohamad Bashar Arafat

Dr. Arafat served as Imam in Damascus from 1981 to 1989 and was subsequently invited to the United States to lecture in various Islamic Centers.

He served as Imam of the Islamic Society of Baltimore, Maryland Inc. from 1989 to 1993, founded An-Nur Institute for Islamic Studies and Arabic Language in Baltimore in 1993, co-founded An-Nur Mosque in Carney, Maryland and was the Imam from 1995 to 1997. Currently he is Director of the Islamic Affairs Council of Maryland.
