Ambassador Cabaniss Opens Prague Food Bank

 At the Opening
photo: Gérard Gratadour
On March 30, Ambassador and Mrs. Cabaniss  helped to open the first food bank in the Czech Republic.  The Czech Federation of Food Banks is a non-profit organization, that collects food from retailers, food processing industries, public organizations, agriculture and European Funds.  They distribute this food to humanitarian organizations and charities, which help people in need.

In addition to participating in the ribbon cutting for the food bank, the Ambassador donated several crates of food that had been collected by the U.S. Marine Detachment at  the  US Embassy.  Employees donated specific food items that the food bank volunteers suggested would be helpful in their start up phase.

Also in attendance at the opening was  Joël de Zorzi , the French Ambassador to the Czech Republic,  and Jan Mladek, the Minister of Agriculture of the Czech Republic.
