The American Information Center would like to invite you to a panel discussion entitled "Empowering Marginalized Social Groups: The Role of Identity and Culture" that will take place on March 7, 15:00-16:30 in the Woodrow Wilson Center (Trziste 13, Prague 1). The panelists will include Pavel Barša (Institute of International Relations), Bill Flood (independent community development consultant) and Joseph D. Lewandowski (Fulbright Scholar at the Charles University). Among the issues discussed will be:
What are effective means for the advancement of marginalized social groups? U.S. and Czech experiences.
What role do culture and the arts play in this process?
What are the positive elements and potential pitfalls of identity politics?
How did identity politics work for African and Native Americans in the U.S.?
The discussion will be in Czech and English with simultaneous interpretation provided.
